Premiere Dance Center’s Competitive Programs
Premiere Dance Center is proud to offer three Competitive Program opportunities for dedicated dancers: Pre-Company, Elite Performance Academy, and Elite Company. Each program is designed to provide dancers with the appropriate level of training, performance opportunities, and team experience as they grow.
Pre-Company - Perfect for experienced dancers, ages 5-7, demonstrating near perfect attendance, strong work ethic, attention to detail, passion for Ballet, Tap & Jazz, and interest in competing. These dancers are selected by their teacher while in a Ballet-Tap-Jazz Combination class during the year. Pre-Company dancers begin dancing as a team in late-August and train together until the end of the Summer season. Pre-Company dancers will attend two local competitions, competing a Jazz & Tap routine, as well as perform in the annual Recital in late April - early May. Once a dancer reaches the age of 8, they are no longer eligible for Pre-Company and have the option to audition for Level 1 in the Elite Company or progress to Elite Performance Academy with a teacher referral.
Elite Performance Academy (EPA) - Designed for dedicated Academy level dancers who are ready for more and demonstrate the passion, work ethic, and potential to become future members of Premiere’s Elite Company. EPA is an invitation-only program for dancers who are generally ages 10-13 and serves as a bridge between our Academy and Company programs. EPA dancers are required to train in age and level appropriate Academy Ballet, Tap, and Jazz classes in addition to a weekly Saturday EPA rehearsal. Throughout the season, dancers will learn a Jazz and Hip Hop routine to perform at one local competition, as well as the annual Recital in late April - early May. EPA dancers may also have the opportunity to perform alongside our Elite Company dancers in the Dripping Springs Founders Day Parade.
EPA dancers make a commitment to the full season from August through Recital and are expected to demonstrate strong attendance, work ethic, maturity, and a desire to grow. Elite Performance Academy is a developmental program and does not guarantee placement in Premiere’s Elite Company. Dancers interested in joining Company must still participate in the annual Company audition process and meet the technical and artistic expectations for their level.
Elite Company - Perfect for dancers trained in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, ages 8-18, seeking more challenging training. With 6 levels of classes, Company dancers will train in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Technique, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Pointe, Turns & Progressions, Tumbling and Stretch & Strengthen. Company dancers begin dancing as a team in late-August, making a year long commitment through the end of the Summer season. Dancers entering Level 1 should turn 8 before January 1st of the coming year. Auditions for PDC’s Elite Company are held during the last week of Summer classes. All dancers auditioning for Premiere’s Elite Company are required to attend ONE Summer Intensive at Premiere before their audition during the last week of Summer classes, along with classes during audition week.
